24/7 MACHINE KINSHIP:

Using machine learning to repair lost songs and hack evolution. What does it mean to vanish from earth when you are not human? As extinction rates speed up, animals see their relatives dying more often, sometimes as in the case of birds, they don’t have enough time to learn the whole language and sounds. They wake up earlier and earlier to have the chance to communicate with each other before 24/7 noisy humans wake up.

This is a sculptural sound piece that deals with the topic of extinction and technological interventions as a hack in the evolution. Therefore Im taking the 1987 recording of the extinct bird Kauai OO, that displays the sounds of the last of its kind; a male singing for response that never comes. I mend and re elaborate the song using Machine Learning to create this parallel past-future birdsongs that will join him in a technological afterlife.
